The Big Result!!!

I woke up friday mornin with big expectations of fish maybe if i was luck a carp! When i looked out side it was looking very dull!!30 miles later i arrived at South View Farm to glorius sunshine but only one other person was fishing. Did they know something i didnt?
I cose my swim after 10mins walking around and set up two rods one on a method feeder and a float just of the bottom. I was all set up and ready to fish about 11 o'clock. After 30mins i got my first bite on my float fished with maggot it was a nice golden rudd. I was then putting in 3-9 maggots every two minutes and was catching a roach and rud. When the bayliff came round to get his £6 i was chatting to him and he said to me that the carp are weary now of the method feeder and that the cage feeder is the best choice. so listing to his advice i changed my tactics. On my 2nd cast i noticed the end was twitching so i let out some line. Then all of a sudden line was being slowley taken of my reel i then wound the clutch in and striked!! the fish at first didnt seem that big as it was not fighting to well. After 4 mins i was getting no where with the fish every time i ganed 10 yards of line it stole 20!By this time i knew that it was a decent fish. After roughly 10 mins the fish was ready to be netted but as soon as he saw the net he was off again!! By this time the only other angler came down as hed not caught a thing. after 15 mins the carps head was out of the water and i had won! When the carp cam to my net i had a big problem!!my net was to small! It was an 18inch round 1!!So the other angler went to get his one when the fish was on the anding mat it was a beautiful common carp weighing 13lb boy was i chocked!!This is now my new personal best! After the cap i didnt catch a thing and left about 4.30pm with a huge smile on my face! All in all a surperb days fishing.

Re: The Big Result!!!

Nice report and congrats on the fish;)
btw...
Are the carp in the UK differant from the ones in the US. There is a ton of them in the local lagoons and they get huge, I tail snagged one on accident fishing for bass that must have weighed atleast 15lbs, and I've seen them twice as big. Never seen anyone really catch one tho.

Re: The Big Result!!!

I caught the carp on a method feeder with bob nudds red mixture mixed with the sweetcorn juice instead of water, maggots and sweetcorn. For the hook bait it was two pieces of sweet corn tipped with a red maggot.

My new target will now be the tench! I love the take with tench and the fight. My PB is lb2 1/2 so i think alot of early morinings lay ahead in the next 5 months!

DamageInc you cannot beat carp fishing the fight and take are surperb once you have caught one you want to catch more.
