| 1st day on the river I Decided to give the Trent a bash on the first day of the season. Arrived at the stretch at 4am to find at least 6 people already bivvied up from the night before. Not a problem, just meant further to walk. My intentions were to fish for barbel, carp and bream using heavy feeder tactics . The weather was mental and I seemed to experience all four seasons in one go. To cut a long story short I never managed a barbel, carp or a bream although two guys either side of me had low double barbel(which I landed for them as the banks are quite steep) and a friend of mine further down river had 12 bream and 2 barbel. I was rather peed of but I did managed an eel and a very small chub on the trusty maggot feeder for the points. I reckon If I stayed into the evening I would have caught, as conditions were getting better and better and fish were being caught near by but unfortunately i was knackered and wanted to get home before dark. Not a great first session for me but I got a good Idea of the potential for this season. Chub ![]() Eel ![]() __________________ Species 2011..
