isbourne fishery winchcombe

Hi all not been active for a while but starting to get out fishing nowHeard about a lake that has not long opened about 6 miles away so popped up to give it a try Tuesday. When i arrived at the lake it was quite sunny and only 1 other angler so happy days. Decided to fish down the bottom end of the lake (wind was blowing into corner and could see fish topping) Happy days. well set up fished with cell boilies. Half an hour later bobbin hit the rod so hard I thought the rod was going to smash, this fish fought like it was on drugs turned out to be a very clean good looking common 12lb. then it rained but after a mad 10 mins of getting out shelter and setting up (not done it for a while) i was sat under it. Had a few more fish rangeing from 4lb upto the 12lb. Spoke to the owner when he came round to collect the money £10 that hurt, but was nice chap and told me the hisory of lake and the fact that roach are caught upto 3lb in there (didnt believe him till i saw one swim by) this place is packed with them. will be going again tuesday to give it a go on the waggler if i can find gear and remember how to use it

The lake has been there for years but was used as a trout lake that is why there is no trees there but with it being turned into a course lake it will have to grow up a bit with trees and reeds

Re: isbourne fishery winchcombe

Sounds like a good fishery especially once they introduce some bankside bushes and trees.

3lb Roach? that's heaven.

Good report

Re: isbourne fishery winchcombe

Alright mate nice report..fished there yesterday myself, also fished down in the corner with a mate,i like the lake but think it will be better when they net it and take out some of the smaller fish as there are loads of them in there i ended up with 7 up to about 10lb,but lost just as many,i lost 5 in the first 40mins of being there,i was using a size 10 hook so changed to a size 8 which helped i think..Also used cell which i now know quite a bit of that goes in and the fish do like them as not alot of the others anglers was catching.wished i stayed for the afternoon now but was in need of a couple of beers as yesterday was my only day off till next weekend..on nights this week so if you go up tuesday let me know might pop up and fish the morning with you if you dont mind...
