| Stones Nursery - Sheerness Friday 6th May, Myself and two mates turned up at around 7.30am to fish the lake, and after paying (12 pound for two rod) and chatting with the man on the onsite tackle shop we set up and in a nice long strech of grass on the newest of the specieman lakes, We all used simular set ups, Legar with hair rigs, running off the bite alarms. We was all in the water by 8.30am with two rods each, We started with a wide range of baits, One Bread, One Luncheon Meat, One Strewberry Boillie, Two 16mm Pellet and One Pineapple Boillie. We then played the waiting the game, not long after 9.30am my friend had his first run, straight into the reeds and snap goes his line... not the best start to a day but least there there are fish.. Then around an hour later the next run, my friend strikes into and land a massive 1lb mirrior carp (16mm Pellet)... Not really what we had in mind at the start of the day, but never the less it was a fish... Around and hour and half later 11.00am another run and another 1lb carp(Luncheon Meat) this time a common, My mate was happy as hes new to fishing and this was keeping him interested. Come mid day I still not had a knock, nothing not even a line bite.... I had to check my bite alarms where even turned on. Around 4.00pm one of my mates pulled out a 2lb Tench (Luncheon Meat) which was nice to see, but still nothing in the way of half decent carp. Come 6.00pm still no sign of the big carp. still not even a knock... But I had caught somthing... the sun... by now I was bright red .. 6.15pm Beeeeep, Finally a run and a lovely 9lb common carp (Pineapple Boillie) for my troubles, still not what I was after as the lake has 30lb+ carp, but still its a fish. 6.30pm Beeeeeeeeeeep, now this one flew off, it had traveled a big distance by the time I got to the rod, two feet away for me. I struck felt something then ping... my 12lb hair rig line had snapped in the middle.. so make your own minds up on the size of that fish.. but the one that gets away is always the monster.. I will say it felt big and never had an hair rig snap in the middle not at a knot. 7.00 pm off the lake and back home All in all a quiet day, but if I was to reccomend this lake I would say Evening/ Early Morning Fishing is needed, They do offer nights so i would look into that as soon as the suns in the air the lake is dead as far as decent fish go. (Around the lake the bigger to come out was 15lb this was also around 5pm during the day only see three fish come out over 3lb) |
