| Overnight fishing Went fishing on my club lake on Friday/Saturday. The weather was good, a bit breezy and overcast with a few breaks in the cloud to begin the day and fishing was slow to begin with, but as the day passed the cloud cover moved off and the day was lovely. Fished two rods one towards the center of the lake about 30 - 40 feet out to my left and the other on the edge of a lily bed to my right. As the day progressed I had no bites and decided to change the left rod to a maggot feeder leaving the right hand rod where it was. After a while I got a bite on the match rod and pulled in a small perch. Followed by a nice 12lb mirror carp from the lily bed. I fished until after dark and pulled my rods in with no other bites and went to sleep for the night. The next day I put my two rods out in the same places as the start of the day before and sat there waiting for some action. Then a thought went through my head about moving the left hand rod from the open water to an area to my left on the edge of a small reed bed. I cast in and turned to mix some ground bait, then all of a sudden my rod was pulled off the rest and started to be dragged across the ground. I jumped up and rushed over to it and hooked into a 8lb 12oz common. I unhooked treated it with klinik and released the fish. Then re-baited and cast into the same spot again. I threw some ground bait in and after a while some line was dragged from the reel. I reeled in and landed the fish. I was really pleased with the fish as it was the first tench I had caught and weighed 5.5lb . These were the only fish I caught but had a great time. |

| Re: Overnight fishing Congrats on your first Tench, and at 5lb 5oz a good size too. What a lovely female Tench. It looks as though she has already spawned. __________________ My Web Site (The Average Coarse Angler) Happiness is Fish Shaped (It used to be woman shaped but the wifes getting on a bit now) |
