A Short Session For Tench

I spent a short two hour session yesterday evening on the hunt for one of Vale Farm's big Tench, but I was out of luck, pestered by small fish for most of the session and no sign of a Tench, but did manage to collect "The Amigos" another 3 points (as detailed below).

The session started off well, using my tried and trusted Tenching gear, which consists of a custom built 12ft float rod and an ancient Abu Cardinal 653GT, spooled with 6lb Daiwa Sensor mono, and using one of my favorite methods, the Lift Float Method, with a size 14 barbless and two grains of sweetcorn, it took just a few minutes before the float shot upwards then sailed away, the result was a 6lb 7oz Common, and they go well on lightish gear.

Next cast produced another Common, this time around the 4lb mark, then the smaller fish started to move in, with float constantly dancing around, it was hard to judge a proper take, but I did manage to hook a nice little Rudd (1.5 points).

Still pestered by the smaller fish, I then had a slightly better bite, which resulted in this little Common Bream (1.5 points)

I took 2 further small Bream and another Rudd, before darkness fell, then on the last but one cast, I had another Common Carp at around 4lb.

No Tinca's but I will be back before long for an early morning session, when the lake is normally empty, and I will have time to search around for signs of Tench activity.

CT.
