| What a great day...eventually Went to a place called Wallend fishery on the Isle of Sheppy this morning. Its like a flooded marsh with loads of reeds and grass. It's on the edge of a nature reserve so its a very tranquil spot. I stuck with it for 2 hours with no other anglers and certainly no movement on the water. I sacked it at 10am before the bailiff came around and headed to my local spot at Bax Farm.. ![]() What a difference that made, I fished the river and had a cracking time, 3 perfect tench with the biggest being 5lbs. Some small roach, a small chub, a 7lb common and this fella. ![]() I was experimenting with hair rigged cheese and look him before i even set up my bite indicator. Can someone tell me what it is ? He weighed slap bang on 10lb. here is the 5lb tench ![]() __________________ I snagged.., 5lb tench, 25.3lb common, 16.4lb mirror , 2.2lb roach, 4 lb chub and 10lb Ghost. |

| Re: What a great day...eventually That they do! As a non-boating angler (a rarity here in the U.S. for somebody as obsessed as I am) I find rivers much more productive as they are easier to read and more easily accessible. Most of my biggest fish have come from rivers and creeks. __________________ 2012 species: 13 All-time species: 65 New species caught in 2012: white sucker, popeye shiner, white shiner |

| Re: What a great day...eventually A lot of anglers in the Uk fish man made stocked waters which is fine , but I always prefer the river when the season permits as the fish are in better condition and I believe they put up more of a fight. Also I know that on my local River (the Trent) you never know what you are going to catch from one day to the next __________________ Species 2011.. | Re: What a great day...eventually That's the best part, not knowing what you're going to catch. If you've been following my posts lately you've read about my exploits on a new river in recent weeks, catching 3 species, two of which I've never previously encountered! This same river is full of redhorses, quillbacks, buffalofish, carpsuckers, goldfish, muskellunge, drum, sauger, black bass, rockbass, redbreasted sunfish, and catfish to go along with the steelcolor shiners, creek chubs, and orangespotted sunfish I've been catching. __________________ 2012 species: 13 All-time species: 65 New species caught in 2012: white sucker, popeye shiner, white shiner |
