Re: Not much to report - but aint sure about these soft 4 play lures yet.

Just been having a look at those in the link Baz and i,m thinking they might be worth trying out for Bass. Are they on fleabay or do you have a specific site for them? Just seen the earlier link!

I usually get mine from Harris Sportsmail, though sometimes they are sold out. They are reasonably heavy, so good for casting.

If you got just the softplay zander body (with no hooks in it ) then get some "lip sculls" - they are shown on the video (clear plastic fittings with treble attached which fits over the head of the softplay) - they come in the same sizes as the softplay lures = small, med, large. I find the lip sculls give them much better action than the other way of rigging them (i.e. putting the hook through the body). I did buy some softlpays which had the hooks etc attached, however I took the hooks out and replaced them with lip sculls.
Let us know how you get on with them..
Cheers mate, I have a large lip scull ordered through harris! What way do you attach a stinger? (if I decide to try it out)

Re: Not much to report - but aint sure about these soft 4 play lures yet.

I tried a stinger with the sofplay n lipscull - tried putting the stinger on the top of the lure, as the lipscull treble hangs at the bottom..it wasnt much good..as it altered the action slightly and the lure didnt swim as well as it should. (perhaps I should have adjusted/shortened the length, but in the end I didnt use a stinger). However I do use stingers on other shad lures. I make up my own stingers. A treble at one end, and a crimped loop at the other end. Measure the stinger so that the treble is mid way along the lure body, or just before the tail length (so it doesnt interfere with the tail action) and the loop end is adjacent to the eye of your hook or the eye ring on the lip scull or hook.
I slide a boilie needle (I use the type with a hinged gate) from the head of the lure down through the body and push the end of the boilie needle out where I want the treble to sit. I then slip the looped end over the boilie needle (and close the hinged gate), then pull the stinger trace through the body and out by the head. I then slip the loop of the stinger over the hook eye, or lure eye ring and then when I clip on my normal wire trace it also keeps the stinger secure.
In fact have found a website that explains all the above!
