Lavender Farm Kent

Took my sone for a boys day out to Lavender Farm Fishery today. Well it was a great day for me and my boy as we had lovely warm weather and we caught some nice fish.

The fishery however i do not recommend. I was stunned by the amount of discarded line my son found and the float christmas trees. I was appauled to see a float being dragged around by a fish, one that got away i guess

Far too many brambles and nettles around the swims and worst of all, as we were leaving. We watched 3 teenage lads i guess about 15-16 fishing on hand lines on the other side of the lake. One of them caught a common of about 3 or 4 lbs i'd guess. I was horrified to see they had no landing net, mat or anything in favour of the fish.

Such a shame the place is'nt 'policed'

Some nice fish there mate considering the venue seems to be poor. Did someone come round to collect your money,

yes i'm afraid the place has a bad reputation,i have seen 2 guys fighting over a swim and a couple of low lifes catapulting stones around the lake for fun,
the owner is a nice guy but he is a farmer not an angler,the money is collected and then you see nobody all day
kids running round shouting and screaming are regular there and i for one will never set foot there again

Took my little nephew there about a year ago , we had a good session & he caught plenty but I was very dismayed by the number of fish ( mostly small carp ) with very damaged mouths and wouldn't return for that reason .
I'm not a big fan of commercial fisheries but they are ideal places for taking youngsters to show them the ropes where they are likely to catch , However a complete lack of supervision on novices and groups of kids is not in anyones intrest . Judging by the numbers fishing when I was there they are making plenty of money , perhaps that's all they care about .

i called the environment agency to complain about illigal fishing and the poor conditions..

Nice catches and looks like a nice day too. Shame about the idiots and the irresponsible owner. We had a great little carp fishery nearby, stocked with only carp, good hard fighters, great condition, but then the farmer died who owned it and the idiots arrived. The amount of rubbish laying around was depressing to see, all the saplings around the pond were torn down, groups of young un's making a racket and of course, damaged fish!! It was just a free for all for the scumbags - I stopped going to the place although me and a mate did go round picking up all the crap a couple of times, next time it was the same story. Luckily a local club have now taken it over and are redeveloping it.
