Trout Fishing at Revels

With the wind being a bit stiff for the Plaice fishing on Chesil today, I fancied having a couple of hours looking for some more points and something for the pot. So I headed over to Revels fishery. Revels is well known as a course fishery, but it does have a couple of small trout lakes, which I fancied having a go at.

I set up my 6 weight fly rod with a gold head nymph on a floating line and second cast I hooked into a nice little Rainbow. Unfortunately I hadn't had time to sort my landing net out so I lost it.

I moved to the adjacent lake and first cast on that one also had me connected to a better Rainbow for all of a minute. The line parted and I was left a bit miffed to say the least. Even more so when the evidence points to a knot failure.

Still things picked up after a couple of more cast, when I hooked into the first of 4 Rainbows

I lost another couple of fish and the trout went off the feed. However the Rudd switched on and I had a couple of Rudd on the fly

I tried for a Perch as I could see them chasing the fry in the corner, but alas no more species. I think I am going to have a try at catching as many different species on the fly as possible this year.

Re: Trout Fishing at Revels

Can't believe you went fly fishing in a strong wind like today. Well done mate.

We should go to Flowers Farm over the summer.

Re: Trout Fishing at Revels

Because of the direction of the valley that it is in I was confident that the wind would be manageable. Thankfully I was right.
I would have invited you mate, but I remember the last time I did, and I am sure you were going to kill me after landing my 12th Trout to your 1, but I wont mention that to anyone
