| 24hrs at Thorpe Lea This is my first report,so here goes. Me and my mate had arranged to go Thorpe lea fishery on Sunday for a 24hr session. the weather had been good on sunday but we was in for a cold night, nevertheless packed all my gear into the car including lots of bacon eggs and sausages and plenty of water for copious amounts of tea and set off at around 3pm. i met Dan(my mate) at Clacketts lane services on the M25 and we set off 35miles to the lake. We got to the lake at about 4pm and decided to have a walk round( all 18 acres of it) to see what was happening and if we could spy some fish. Every angler we spoke to said nothing had been out but they had seen fish over the bar that runs up the middle of the lake, so we decided to fish swims 49 and 50 as the water was deep on that side of the lake. 49 had an island to the left and 50 was just open water.I jumped in 49 As the light was fading fast i decided the quickest way to get my bait out was to put on a 6 boilie pva stringer on both rods ( i forgot to reload my funnel web which i was gonna put some mach1 pellets in) and cast one as hard as i could towards the bar and the other to the island, then set up my bivvy and got the kettle on. Then at around 8:30 my right hand rod, which was on the bar, screamed off with this 17.5lb mirror ![]() That was the only one for me that night but my mate had two takes and landed one, a 15.5lb mirror. ![]() during monday we tried different baits and different presentations to tempt another but they were either not interested or not where we were, and even though the coots decided to have a 2hr turf war at 2am in front of my swim, it was great to finally get out and wet a line. __________________ If it was easy, it would be called catching.
