OK so what HAVE I remembered?

One of them days.

Went to BAA Ladyham stretch to see what it was like.

This section is below Strouport and above Worcester (in fact above Holt Fleet).

The river is very wide by now and a bomb across the second swim suggested the depth was between 4 and 8 feet with a very clear, what appeared to be sandy, bottom.

So that was the roach plan pretty much kicked in to touch.

As it was the fishing was dire.

I had a very imformative chat with a guy who lived in Bewdley who told me he'd been up and down the river and nothing was coming out.

Water was clearing, dropping but cold at 5.3 degrees.

Waggler fished because of a downstream wind and the water being to shallow I wanted to fling the float a bit.

As it was I eventually winckled out a chub of about 2LB to a 20 hook 1.7 Lo viz bottom and a maggot feeder.

I had been in a rush when I left so the butt section of my stick rod, pre tied hooks in their wallet, end gear, most of my feeders and spare lead , catapults (but I did have spares) and worst by far, my flask that Mrs BB had filled with tea were all at home. Doh!

So all in all not a great day but at least I didn't blank and I might be wrong, that might have been my first chub from the Severn, so not an entirely lost cause.

Some piccys -
River is to my left (and left of the car). This picture shows just how much fishing the BAA has on this section. AND you can drive your car down to this one.

I was going to fish this, the picture doesn't do the bank steepness justice.
In the end I decided that this was just making life difficult. Though I intend to fish this end next time as I suspect it is deeper.

A more side on view of the peg.

View from about half way down the Ladyham stretch.

Peg one.

You might have spotted that the angle of these sheep suggests I took the picture while hovering about 8 feet off the ground. After having to pick up about three luncheon meat tins , I was still on my high horse when I took these. WHY some people think livestock and lazily dropped cr@p mix I will never know.

Peg two.

Upstream.
