River stour for an hour.

Even though it was raining and the wind was blowing I just couldn't take it any longer and had to go out for an hour or two.

With the river stour just down the road I decided to go to the Stewponey stretch. I also decided to go with as little tackle as I could this time in case the fish weren't showing and I needed to move.

So it was my trusty (and it has to be said very old ) Dam Quicksilver match rod, 13foot light float rod, the Okuma centrepin and some bits and pieces.

Even left the phone home , it was so wet I just didn't want any clutter or electronic water catchers.

Tackled up with a 5 no 4 wire stem Dick Clegg float and trotted the float along near the bushes.

Later changed to a 8 no 4 to give the float some "bite".

Upshot was 5 chub (small ones 12oz +) , two roach (about 8 z) and 1 dace (couple of ounces) in about the hour and a half I was there.

Not exactly setting the world on fire, though still deeply satisfying as I get more used to the centrepin and the fish being to switch back on.

It also allowed me to check my wet weather gear was still ok, which it is.

Water temperature was 8.3 degrees. Water low and almost clear.

No photos this time, it's excactly the same stretch as my previous post for the same venue.

Beats staying indoors.

I am stuck in the office looking out of the window and sufferng from withdrawal symptoms and you have just made it worse LOL..

Wish I was there on the bank with you, it sounds very idilllic even if it is raining.
