a couple of my last outings

Well i managed a quick afternoon session on saturday the 5/2/11 with the lures and our youngun in tow lol
he asked me to take him and our lass was in a mood so it was the best option lol
We got down to the canal and had a chuck about tried allsorts and no sighns not even a perch follow i told him to pick a spot and pick a lure
he chose a spot that looked empty of fish no sighns at all no features but i did ask him so being a good dad i let him pick the lure he picked the little storm pike up (in my mind i was thinking not gunna work ) took a while to learn a propper movement with it but anyways i cast it out and let him reel it back and then it happend bam a pike hit it our youngun nearly screamed lol but as quick as it hit it let go or id pulled out too quick after the excitement our youngun went to sit on the unhooking mat and have a drink so i jsut dangled it next to the wall jigging it and the little pike was back and verry fast yet again i pulled out tried again and it was trying to hit the lure but not take it bit strange really but his spot worked and he found the pike hes coming more regualry lol

this was when i told him it was home time

then when i told him he could have 5 more mins lol

and him being verry confident in being a gilly lol

sunday the 6/2/11
Well i got down to the river sunday morning full of hope what a kick in the teeth that turned out to be it was the highest ive ever seen it me and jason was lost for words the usual calm nice spot was just a torrent of rageing water

We walked down to the spot weve had 5lb trout on deadbaits from and u couldnt even see the peg the water was upto the walking track

We had a few options there was the lagoons/pugneys/poo city lagoons no go couldnt get under the bridge because of the water/pugneys gets 2 busy with walkers and people using the boats and pedlo's so the winner was poo city the wind down there was horendous when we got there but we didnt care we just wanted a fish or atleast to be fishing.....

I set up running ledger rigs with lamprey on 1 rod and sprat on the other rod not a touch for about an hour giving them regular twitches so swapped about with the baits tried half a makeral on 1 rod and smelt on the other rod and after a short while i had a few bleeps then it ripped off i picked the rod up and felt a good fish it give me the best battle to date for a pike i was expecting a monster with the way it tried mullering me but i was victorias a lovely 11lb 5oz in the net

the fish was put back and another smelt put on it was good finaly being 1 up on jason but it was even better since thats my first pike since late october/early november there was no more fish for me and didnt see any 1 else land anything while we was there so jason finaly had to take the banter of me beeting him wich even included a victory dance all the way to the car lol
till next time tite lines folks

Great report and good Pike.

I can see that your boy is going to be a great angler when he gets bigger.

Re: a couple of my last outings

cheers lads i love getting out with the little 1 and i find lure fishing the best for youngsters they tend not to get bored so easy because your allways on the move and he gets to feed all the ducks on the way lol

i also do a couple of videos now and again nothing special just video blogs of some of my outings
