Belated report from Higher Farm
Truth be told, it was the weekend before the Zander meet, and JP and I decided that a ‘light’ session would be in order. I brought along my old whip, an ultra light carbon fiber 3m,and also my favourite peice of mrdern angling manufactuering, the Sigma wand. JP had some trusty cane with him.
I had thought about bring cane, but after the very cold weather which we had been treated too, I was concerned about clumsyness, so opted for delicate carbon over subtle cane.
We chose the lower lake, and I took no 2 and JP in no 3. We agreed that we would fish the same area, baiting sparsely with the odd maggot. It did not take long for bites to materialise, small rudd and roach, with some gudgeon thrown in when the bait had settled on the lake bed. Now and again the bites dried up, often the sign of something larger moving in. This could be worrying, as I was fishing extremely light. JP has had a wonderful 14 linnear ghost crap, fish of the month sometime back.
I did manage a fine perch for such light tackle,and the wand produced a couple of small carp.
Sadly no sign of the Orfe which Greenheart had caught from this lake in the past, maybe I’ll head back soon.
