How windy....

Ventured out today knowing it has finally turned milder. All of my Christmas presents have been tested today and proved to be great bits of kit. In particular I recieved from her in doors, a large 50" heavy duty umbrella. I have to admit that when i unwrapped it I turned my nose up as it was not what I had in mind.

Today I set it up, pegged it out and snuggled my chair and kit underneath it. It was howliing a gale all day, It must have been gusting 40 mph plus and all that happened was that the umbrella squirmed and twisted with the wind but stayed right where i planted it.

My new bait alarms would not shut up however i adjusted them, unfortunatly they never played the heavenly tune of a fish on the line.

My rod tips were all over the place and the vibrations down the line must have been enough to scare off any inquisitive fish with in about 50 feet. I even offered up some lovely fresh tuna ground bait but no nibbles for me.

Despite the blank it's all goos fun, good practice and good experience for a novice angler like me..

did you try your rods close to the ground with your tips under the water
hope you have apologized to your Mrs about the brolly lol

I second what Nick has said, keep the rod tips in the water. It's what i had to do on Wednesday afternoon.

It's just my luck im flying to Leeds tomorrow in this wind although touch wood it is supposed to calm down

I wouldnt mind it diverting me to glasgow to see the Gers beat Celtic though!

He'll get a 'warm'() welcome wherever he goes! Even im not fond of him, but that might change if he scores the winner at the weekend
