| Torksey arm, Tuesday Wow ! this is my first thread in ages  Not been out for for months mainly due to work and pants weather so I thought with the warmish weather we had last week Id give the Trent a blast and try and grab by self a nice beard, but as its turned out its turned colder than a pair of brass nipples so it looks like a spot of croc hunting is on the agenda or possibly a Zander. I have decided to fish Torksey arm, this is an outlet from the Trent which feeds the Torksey canal. Ive heard there has been four 15lb + Zander caught in recent months, whether this is true or not who knows but Ill be giving it a shot. Ive never caught a Zander before so hopefully one will be on the cards. I reckon Ill be fishing a standard ledger set up with a variety of dead baits to hand. Had a drive down today and a bloke had an 18lb and a 14lb pike out in 5 hours so fingers crossed for tomorrow __________________ Species 2011.. | Re: Torksey arm, Tuesday Afternoon all, The morning started at 6AM, Made a flask, loaded the gear into the car and picked up my brother Ben. We drove the 10 miles or so to the water and arrived just before first light. The temperature was around zero and with rain forecast we set up the shelter first. Next the rods, just a simple running lead to a 12" trace with size 6 semi barbless trebles baited with small whole mackerel on one rod and half a lamprey on the other. I cast one rod to the far bank and the other to the margins 20 yards to my right. All was quiet for a good 3 hours until I notice the end of my rod twitching. "it cant be a bite" I told myself, but I struck into it anyway just to be sure and right enough I connected with a nice lump. It put up a decent fight considering the temperatures were low. I got it on the bank and I thought wow this is big ! and it tipped the scales at 18.8lb my New PB by about 10lbs and my first fish of the year, bonus !!   (I think my pike pose needs some improvement as think Ive managed to make her look smaller). All went back to being quiet after this fish and i packed up about 14:30 with the full intention of returning soon. __________________ Species 2011..
