a good walk totally unspoilt by fish

well after 2 nights of excess i had to get some air
due to family stuff couldnt do slapton comp, knew canal still frozen) have heard double locks is clearing)

weather was fantastic so i took a 1/2 pint maggot and 2 mackeral and headed for the Culm at Killerton

plan was 1 deadbait for a pike, other trotting for anything and if suitable rename it livebait

the river was running lovely but was cleaner and alot lower than i expected



well try as i could nothing was playing , i tried several spots and the deeper pools but nothing, but it was so nice to be out



on my way back to car met a really nice guy ( sorry didnt get your name)( and scarily he recognised me from the forum , who gave me some info on how to get to another stretch of the river
so after a quick rekkie i went back to say thanks and watched him catch perch and roach on the quiver tip, and had a pleasent chat and gained quite a few tips on how to fish a river in this state

so a really nice afternoon, saw hardly anyone,good rekkie and info, lots of birdlife includeing lapwings ,kingfishers,wrens, owls, buzzards and a very special. little dipper not 6 feet away, the fish will wait for my next visit, it really didnt matter today
and home for a cracking chilli
