| No pike at Hampton Loade. Lovely sunny day did not feel like the aleged -2 my car said. Not even a sniff though I was using sprat and herring (livebaits not allowed BAA rules) and I hadn't got any coarse deadbaits from the tackle shop. Was going to take two rods but decided to just take the one and gear up so I could swap if needed. Water was 3 degrees in the flow and 2.2 in the upper part of the slack (next to the ice). Water was relatively clear (for the Severn). Brrr!!! Is this going to be another one of them winters when all w do is wait for summer . Hope not, gettting too old to wish days and months away. Assuming there isn't a grid lock of ice I will be trying different stretchs of the river in the winter as I just don't get a pikey feeling at Hampton Loade and also the Caunsall stretch of the Staffs Worcester. Oh , and I forgot to mention that this is the first time I've experienced the rod rings icing up. Wondered what the hell the grating noise was and couldn't believe it when the top 6 eyes were iced up. __________________ Just remember, not all the heroes died. www.helpforheroes.org.uk Last edited by barbelblanker; 11-28-2010 at 03:05 PM. |
