| Went back to the Fens on Saturday 30th. Mate Mike came along. Was gonna try the River Delph but as usual ended going back to the place we caught last weekend. Little bit slower this week, maybe down to the fact that it was a lot sunnier. Decided to jig to start with to no avail. We then decided a move to a fresh area but on the same drain. Ended up a couple of miles upstream. Put bait rods in, I lost a pike and Mike got crabbed out. Feeling unsettled we then went back to the original swim where we started. Bait rods cast in and jig rods ready to break the quiet periods. Finally a run on the bait rod, 2 beeps then bobbin to blank, hit it and connected. A pike of about 4lbs...gutted, thought it was a zed. Then as it was just getting dark suddenly connected with a small zed on the jig rod, I was happy. Minutes later Mike had a take on the jig, much bigger zed but unfortunately come off just before the net. Till next time...... |
