Popped down to canal today to try a spot of zed/pike fishing managed a jack and a few nibbles but nothing else nice day out though The gate was locked by the new bridge again so a long walk but the bridge operator told me it's ok to fish the otherside by kfc??? It does say GUAA fishing but he says that sign has been there for years and nobody fishes there?? Any info would be nice

I was told when I was down for the last forum meet, by a local, that there is a deeper area near the KFC, apparently a 18lb Zed came from that area during a match. Believe it or not it was caught on a single maggot on a size twenty hook. They did not say if the Zed was returned

The bridge keeper is wrong. It's still GUAA controlled and people (self included) do fish there. You can get a day ticket (Couple of quid) or a season ticket (£11 runs 1st April each year) from the Gloucester Angling Centre on the Bristol Rd . Note The GUAA do not allow night fishing on any of their waters so its a bit restrictive. (An hour or two into dark however usually goes un-noticed )

G.u.a.a don't control the bit by kfc. They do control the bank leading up to it, where it is sign posted...I've fished that point opposite the bend many times through the summer for carp. Nice little spot and you don't get bothered much when you night fish it...when you going down next chris?

I generally fish tuesday's as I don't work tuesday nights, can't do next week cars got to have a service and the week after Im probably going to try a New lake by me thats just opened SSSHHHHHHH don't tell anyone but will let you know when out over canal again. Might buy a GUAA ticket just to be on the safeside, Looks a nice bit off water with some nice features and less of a walk

Chris - The GUAA ticket also covers the 'Cinema' section towards the docks. You could fish from the boot of your car here - no walk involved
