| Belated Reports as per Usual! 10.10.10 + 13.10.10 10.10.10 Well it was a plan of ours to head to the world renowned river bann for quite a while and last Sunday was the day we actually put our words into action. Although we had been warned that it was maybe too early to hit the shoals of roach as they would still be making there way up river from the breeding grounds in Lough Neagh, but we went on and made the 40 mile trip or so to the river in Portadown none the less. The river is nowhere near its old standards, holding numerous world match fishing championships and numerous world match record weights in its heyday but now it fails to reach such heights and others may even say that its only a mere shadow of its previous self. In saying all that a good days fishing can still be had. ![]() ![]() So we got to the river at about 9am and i set up 2 pike rods on the bottom with rudd and herring as bait and put them on the alarms and just 'forgot' about them while i attended to my feeder set up. For the feeder rod I chose to fish a cage feeder with a paternoster set-up, 4lb line straight through to a size 18 hook, baited with double maggot. ![]() Is it just in NI or does the Tesco fish make an appearance in English rivers too? ![]() First cast and bites were coming thick and fast but too me a while to start hitting into them... and time after time i was hitting into half decent gudgeon, although they werent what we came for it meant points for the hunt! ![]() Time after time we were hitting into gudgeon, by the end of the day we must have had a few hundred in our keepnet! I also picked up another 1.5 points, and a new species for myself a minnow! ![]() While i was happily catching gudgeon waiting for illusive roach to make an appearance we caught a nice hard fighting river pike, around 3 or 4 lb taken on the rudd DB. ![]() We stopped fishing about 5pm without a single roach but we stopped early to let us stop off at a small pond/lake on the way home that we seen a few fish moving in on the way to the river... We only stopped cause we were inquisitive. So with a waggler and a double red maggot we started fishing and to my GREATEST surprise the first and last fish was an incredibly small tench. So it must have been stocked and therefore must have been private so we quickly got off site! It was yet another unexpected 1.5 points: ![]() Well that was that day over, 4.5 points better off, so happy alround even though the roach weren't playing ball. Give it a month and i will be back after the roach. 13.10.10 I'm going to keep this one short and sweet cause i cant give away any details on were i was not even a cheeky photo cause we probably weren't meant to be anywhere near the place, its what i like to call adventure fishing As some of you may know i have been after a brownie for a while now and the 13.10.10 was the night i got it for the hunt, after many roach and rudd taken on a double maggot and a few on fake corn, i bunched up the hook with 4 or 5 maggots and that is what lured this lovely pristine brownie : ![]() That's the reports up to date. I can breathe easy again! ![]() All the Best, Justin __________________ Blackwater Tackle Supplies Keep Ulster's Waters Healthy, Practice Catch and Release! |

| Re: Belated Reports as per Usual! 10.10.10 + 13.10.10 Great report Justin, and I particularly liked the top 2 photographs - it looks a cracking stretch to fish. As usual, you seem to find the pike wherever you fish - well done. |
