| happy bunny well, i took the plunge and booked friday and today (monday) off work for a couple of days fishing and how lucky was i to of picked 2 perfect days in the current demise of the weather. I took my son and neighbour on friday and we all float fished meat, corn and maggots. We all started on meat and that proved to be the bait of the day. I tried corn and did not get a bite, my mate tried it too with no luck but my son had a couple of decent carp on it. Then it went quite so Nick started with maggots and was tiddler bashing for an hour which kept him entertained untill the fun started again and we were getting close to running out of meat. It was a bite a chuck with me getting a fish every other cast. Best fish of the day i feel fell to Nick with me getting the next best. not monsters but just bloody good fun. ![]() ![]() Monday was day on my own to the same lake only this time i fished to peg directly opposite the one i fished on friday. So i set up as before and lobbed a lump on meat out into the corner and............................................... ...........................nothing. So off came the meat and on goes a piece of corn and............................................... .....again..................nothing. ????????????????????????? Ah i thought lets try bread. Bang, straight into a fish, a nice carp of around the 2lb mark. So on goes another lump of bread and we're in again, only to pull out. This happened 4 or 5 times on the trot with in minutes of each other. I changed my hook as i thought this may be a problem. It did solve it for a while as fish were coming to the net on a regular basis.(but i still lost a lot of fish later on) So were as friday the fish would only take meat, today they only wanted bread. How strange are fish? But for an hour say 1-2 o'clock it was quite dead with just the odd bite to keep the spirit up. Then it was as if someone flicked a switch and it was a hectic 2 hours of none stop fun. A couple of guys who popped by to check out the water were amazed at the rate i was getting fish. and a credit to the fishery owner as they commented on the excellent condition of the fish. But as with all good things it had to en,d as i had taxi duties to attend to and i packed up feeling well pleased with my day and even more so that i had chosen 2 fantastic days weather wise and the fish were happy to oblige too. ![]() no piks from today but a guesstimate would put the biggest at around 5-6lb mark with the majority of fish being around 2-3lb. Again no monsters but very nice fish in great condition. Check out the fishery here http://www.woodlands-fishery.co.uk/ |
