| Day session. not quite as planned I decided to have another session on the Trent today to try and bag myself an elusive river carp but things didn't quite go as planned. I decided to take my younger brother along as he is keen to start fishing and is looking for some guidance. (not sure where I come into it )I was not keen on giving him a carp rod until hed gained a bit of experience in general angling so I advised him to purchase a heavy feeder and some medium size feeders ,hooks ,line ect. Anyway we decided not to rush down too early as the stretch I fish is always empty.... well so I thought. We arrived there to see some fellas setting up there piking rods right in my favourite peg " why not fish another peg ?" you ask, Well the peg I fish is a free parish peg and the rest of the stretch is a club book which I do not own yet... embarrassed After some thought I decided to have a drive round the local villages as Id heard there were some ponds close by. I didnt find the ones I was looking for but as time was getting on I pulled into a local caravan park which turned out to have a small pond stocked with small to medium sized carp. I was tired of driving so we decided to stay here. I helped set ben up with a small 2oz method feeder baited up with fake and real corn. I must admit I didn't feel right here with my size 8 hooks and my 12lb line I was totally unprepared for a small heavily stocked fishery. I managed to dig out some small hooks and began to fish on the feeder. Not long after Id set up ben had a run and was into a small carp which after a bit of coaching he landed. It was around 5lb and bens biggest carp so far. ![]() I then had a take and caught this common again around 5-6lb .I then began to notice lots of activity right under my feet, I chucked in some micro pellets and the carp went ape sh#t rolling and shuffling in the mud. I could have scooped them up with the net !! this was weird for me as Ive never seen fish this tame. Ben was beginning to pull in more carp. This 6lber being the biggest .I had a few more small carp and so did Ben, I was slightly disappointed I didnt get to fish the river but the day didnt turn out so bad. Ben was chuffed to bits as he got better and better at landing the fish and I was chuffed watching him improve. We headed home around 16:30. Moral of the story... get up earlier and dont be tight and buy the club book. oh and be prepared for all occasions cos you never know where you might end up ! ![]() ![]() ![]() Mad __________________ Species 2011..
