| Pleasure outing using a good whip I went away with the wife to Yarmouth in Norfolk for the weekend and because the place I stay at has got it’s own smallish shallow lake I took a super light waggler rod plus a couple of good whips incase I managed to get a couple of hours in fishing. I have fished there before but basically it is a small fish lake which also holds a couple of small Carp in it which hardly ever get caught. I had forgotten how pleasurable using a good quality Whip was (don't go there; I mean a 'fishing whip' LOL I wouldn’t use a whip on purpose for fish like Carp but at least the much finer tip gives me some chance of landing the odd 4 or 5lb Carp if one is accidentally hooked on fine line while after silvers. I only fished for three hours but I had a fish a cast, mostly Roach with a couple of small snotties (small Bream) from a couple of ounces up to around 9 or 10 ounces on a size 20 hook and using Pinkies on the hook. I didn’t hook a Carp although twice I spooked one which was feeding close along the edge and caused it to throw up a cloud of bubbles as it ploughed off. The water was only around 2.5 foot deep. I thoroughly enjoyed messing around catching silvers for a change and will probably be giving my whips another airing now and then over the winter period. Meanwhile it is back to serious angling and time to turn my attentions to those late autumn Barbel and Quality Roach that keep tempting me to catch them on my local stream at this time of year. Tight Lines. Boldbear. __________________ My Web Site (The Average Coarse Angler) Happiness is Fish Shaped (It used to be woman shaped but the wifes getting on a bit now) |
