my daughters first time fishing

i took my daughter out fishing this afternoon and we went to a local fishery that has 5 small lakes that are well stocked and well maintained.

We got there about 3 o'clock and walked around the lakes and it was really busy. One lake had no one fishing and the carp must of known this as they were all basking in a corner and was a delight to watch. As this particular lake has carp to 30lb plus i thought it a bad idea for a first timer to start here so we headed to the smallest of the lakes that has a good stock of fish and great fun with carp from a couple of pound upto double figures as well as the other usual fish found in this type of water.
We set up on a light waggler and i started her off on double maggot and i chose sweetcorn. Within a couple of minutes she was shouting "i got one dad".
A small carp of about pound and half. not bad for a first fish, 5 minutes later, another one around the same size.
I had a small roach of about 6oz. I too had a couple of small carp before switching both of us to luncheon meat when i heard those words again. this time it was a loverly carp of about 5lb soon to be followed by another then another and another. Luncheon meat was the way to go and we both enjoyed fish although she was catching the bigger ones. (beginners luck i think)
All in all we had a brilliant time and she really enjoyed the day and finished it with a half hour 'tiddler bashing' on single caster and we lost count of the amount of fish she pulled in in such a short time.
here's a couple of pictures from her first session. She thinks it was her goofy glasses that helped. mmmmm thank god she only wears them for fun.

cheers guys, forgot to say in the report about the one that got away. lol it was a cracking carp and would easily of been the biggest of the day and probably my pb only for the hook to pull out as it was about to be netted.
Gutted to say the least.

My Daughter loves going fishing with me or as she puts it " i can go to Subway for a 12 inch sub and then sit in the car and read my book "

i'd say, she already has a fan club wanting to know when she's going next on her facebook.

she has a great fishing style too, she didnt have to strike once on any of the fish, she just waits till the float goes under and lets the fish hook them selves and just holds them there.
she did a great job of handling and rod and reel and didnt get into one tangle.

She is a natural then! good to see young women getting involved.
