Went to the Countess Wear stretch of the River Exe yesterday. Caught plenty of brown trout a few roach and a thin lipped mullet. Fished from low tide to high tide. Was good all day until the tide got to it's highest then dropped off. Used a 1 oz maggot feeder all day with double maggot on 18 hook. Had a carp rod with bacon grill also but no takes on this. This is the first time i have fished this stretch and will def be going back.

Re: River Exe, Countess Wear Stretch You know, I've never fished the river that far up before, but having done a bit of Mulleting locally now I'm really tempted to give it a bash. Were there many Mullet around?? ![]() __________________ Right then, checklist: Rods. Check. Reels. Check. Speckled Hen. Check. Bait…… BAIT! Sh*t, where’s the bait?

Re: River Exe, Countess Wear Stretch I've been down that stretch in my kayak recently and just past where i was fishing on the bend there is the long straight that takes you under the main road. Just around that area there were lots of Mullet moving out of my way as i came through. At low tide it is very shallow so i guess a maggot feeder would be the best way to get them. They hang around by a patch of grass that breaks the surface.
