Witham Friary possibly or is there better?

OK so I have a few days off next week and am looking to get some lines in the water in or around the Trowbridge area in Wiltshire

I have been told Witham is quite a good spot
anyone fished it this year
I noticed a few old posts but they were reporting possible disease.

any updates on how its fishing or if there is some where better
I usually head to Rood Ashton, Longleat or shearwater but fancy a change.
Wouldn't mind a shot at a few double number carp.

Re: Witham Friary possibly or is there better?

There was some stories about it being diseased. Im not sure what its like now also there is Edney's fisheries not far from frome. I know cuckoos rest has at least one 17+ pounder and the record for brokerswood is 26 lb. theres a few loacal lads on here that could tell you of some more areas im sure. If you need a fishing buddy to help you find some of these places give me a shout always willing to sink a line.

Re: Witham Friary possibly or is there better?

Thanks for the offer ryan
always happy to hook up ( pardon the pun) with a more exprienced angler
I'm still very new at this as I only get a day or two a season in due to work comitments.
Hmm Brokerswood might not be a bad option.

Re: Witham Friary possibly or is there better?

If you wanted to I could take you to my club water at crockerton its a much better lake with good healthy fish in there good place for learning and chilling out. Clean litter free venue with a working toilet (unusual at most fisheries) Great bunch of guys and girls that are members who fish there, are always happy to share tactics and give advice where needed or if asked for.
If you want to know any more about the water or club just ask Bannana Steve, Simon N or Ben Lee or contact Steves tackle in Warminster (01985 847634).

Message me back if your interested.

Witham Friary - catch report

Witham it was then, Fished the bottom lake from 8am to 5:30pm

Caught a very nice 6 1/2lb carp, using a method feeder and Prawn!

The rest of the day was a split between roach & perch on the float

Weather held up eventually after a wet start and all in all an enjoyable day
