decided late this eve to pop to Kia ora with some tired maggots and some luncheon meat for a tench( well that was the plan anyway

quickly grabbed the bag from last week ago and ran and got there for 7 ( can only fish till dusk there)

went to lake to see 1 person just leaving then i had the whole place to myself

it was lovely, really peacefull, and even a few balloons went by ( was so still could here the burners going from where i was)

now i went to the bag for all the gubbings and found i had left all weights /extra line etc behing as last time was the trip to river and i had stripped it all down, oh well sure i can manage

luckily the barbel rod still had the maggot feeder on it
the sleeper carp rod went out with 3 bb shot to hold downthe luncheon meat ( straight through on line as no swivels etc either as last time i was on river

)

anyway to cut a long story shortish for me
the carp were all cruising high in the water, and although i saw some tench bubbles they weren haveing it

with 1/2 hour to go 2 carpo came to play, both on the feeder, first one about 6lb beautifully scaled and fought like a trojan

the second maybe 1 1/2 lb and scruffy

no tench but a lovely chilled evening
