| a few weeks before hand me and martin (montygti) fished big hayes i had no luck but marting caught a few. whilst we was down there we enquired about fishing paddock knowing that it gets booked up most days and both of us wanting to catch some catfish they said it was empty from 1pm on the 16th of June till Friday 18th 1pm. so we decide we would plan to fish Wednesday 1pm for 24h or maybe 48h if doing well. so i text a few people see if they wanted to join us. and Alex replied saying hes also up for it so we was booked on for 6pm Wednesday martin picked be up at around 1pm filled his rover up with our kit very tight squeeze and headed off to todber we got to todber and had a look round the tackle shop as we both needed a few bit. had a chat and was going to have a wonder round the lakes but the guys in the shop said there's only 1 guy fishing and we could start now. so we decided to get on the lake straight away we had a walk round the lake trying to decided what pegs to fish i was tempted on fishing the 1 i did last session i had on there but we decided to fish the 3 swims in a row me at the top in the corner then martin and when alexs gets to the lake he can have the swim on the end that was if 1 of us catches we could help ect. after talking to martin i finally got my rods out and set up my bivvy for the night and all set up next plan was to set up a rod to catch some live bait. alex then turned up so me and martin went onto park lake to catch some bait after spending over an hour we had a few to get us going. went back onto paddock and i put all 3 rods out on boileies to try for the carp then swap over to live baits when it gets dark. with no luck on the boilies and it starting to get dark i swapped two rods over to live bait and left the 3rd on a little 10mm boilie. around 2am i had a take on a live bait lifted into it tightened the line 1 hard pull on the line and it was gone everything went slack thought i had been snapped off reeled in to find it all ok but the bait gone re baited with a rudd and cast out. was all quiet. just before 2am my boilie rod went off at pace taking loads of line jumped out of bed ran down picked up the rod lifted into the fish and it was on after a short fight i had it in netting range thought it was a carp then saw its belly and it was long and thought it was a grass carp. managed to get it in my net lifted it out onto my mate to find i got what i was after my first cat. ![]() Uploaded with ImageShack.us more pics to be found in my blog http://www.macdig534.blogspot.com/ after weighing it the needle went round to 8 1/4lb i was well happy i woke martin and alex but alex went back to bed lol and martin came over and helped me take some pics. i put it back in my landing net to let it recover then put my rod back out on boilie again hopping for more as there was alot of fish crashing about in my area till just after 4am but no fish to follow. in the morning went back to boilies hopeing to catch a carp. after speaking to alex he wanted to do another night somewhere so me martin and alex through some venues about and decided to try crockerton. so off we went to crockerton i went into peg 4 alex and martin fliped a coin to decided who had peg 1 lol and alex won lol. i put out my rods for carp on boilies for abit then set up to go on the float the part i wanted to fish was 12ft deep so gave up after a while and went back on to the carp rods and sat out in the sun. then alex started to catch some nice carp and commented on how hard they fought for there size had how nice they looked. when it got dark i targeted the eels had 1 run and connected with it after a short battle was in the net on the back and unhooked put it back in the landing net for it to recover and get some pics. not long after alex and martin was up so weighed it and it was 3 1/2lb. alex got his camera out to take some shots i tyed to carm it down and put it to sleep but on this ell he was having none of it lol alex tryed to get some pics but i couldn't get the eel to stay still. pics of the eel to follow. |
