| Battled the elements - Plus my Sweetcorn Recipe. Well, Christerio and Myself headed out to Cattawade Stour Saturday morning to be greeted by heavy rain and strong winds in our faces, We battled on for 3 hours without even a knock and with another bout of heavy rain and wind we decided to call it a day. Not the best start to the season session for Christerio but there'll be better sessions to come. I headed out to the Private lake in Woodbridge after dropping Chris home determined not to be beaten by the fish or the elements and had several Rudd, my problem fish at this venue. I chucked in a hadfull of my (beta) Sweetcorn and kept chucking my line in weighted low down to drag the corn through the Rudd as quick as possible. It Paid off ending the session with 3 Bream, the best at Approx 7lb, and 2 carp of around 2lb. The Nicer out of the 2 Carp - The Biggest Bream - (Beta) Sweetcorn (as can be seen in the bream photo) :- 1 large Can of Sweetcorn 10ml Silverspoon Almond Flavouring 10ml Silverspoon Red Colouring 10ml Silverspoon Blue Food Colouring 1 tbl Spoon Honey 2 tbl Spoons Sunflower Oil Mix the honey, colourings and flavour together, (may need to heat the honey to soften it) Add the sweetcorn and stir all together, Add the oil, this should just cover the sweetcorn, and mix together. Store in the fridge for 2-3 days..the longer the better, the oil will help preserve the sweetorn and take on the flavour. After a couple of days the sweet corn takes on the 2 colours in a strange tri-colour effect, Red, yellow and blue stripes. It would be great to hear if anyone has any success with this. __________________ Fish List-2010: Bream, Common Carp, Mirror Carp, Ghost/Common hybrid, Roach, Rudd, Tench |

| Re: Battled the elements - Plus my Sweetcorn Recipe. The change did help considerably. Although the wind and rain still came down hard because of the size of the private lake it was nowhere near as open and choppy, I could ever shelter beside a large Bush. Apparently there used to be carp of 20lb+ in this lake but they haven't been seen for a year or so, an otter has been seen so the worst has been thought. I'm going to try and find them though. Although I did notice that one of the carp I caught was missing a large chunk of dorsal fin and part of its back (although fully healed) it doesn't bode well for the other carp. __________________ Fish List-2010: Bream, Common Carp, Mirror Carp, Ghost/Common hybrid, Roach, Rudd, Tench |
