| Going to Cattawade Stour This Afternoon. Been planning all week to get a days fishing in this saturday at the Stour in Cattawade. Well I know it's Friday but I couldn't wait another day so straight from work this afternoon I'm going to be heading down the river. I've got my 'Beta' Sweetcorn mixed and soaking in the fridge ready (Recipe to come later if its successful), a fresh loaf of bread and a big bundle of enthusiasm. I've been watching this spot since the season closed watching the reeds grow and scoping where the best spots are for fish. Talk is there are some large Bream and some nice Carp Swimming around the area so I plan to find myself a couple. Full report and pictures (if any Gav __________________ Fish List-2010: Bream, Common Carp, Mirror Carp, Ghost/Common hybrid, Roach, Rudd, Tench |

| Re: Going to Cattawade Stour This Afternoon. Well, I got down to the Stour at 1:30 and took 15 minutes checking the depth , no more than 2ft over the majority of the swim which was shallower than I thought. Cast against the reeds alternatively left and right, eventually had a take on the left on Breadflake only for the fish to shake the hook. I saw a large Carp Surface about 25-30ft out and after a while of no more bites decided to put out a long cast with double corn and instantly got a large bite on the drop, my rod bent right round as the fish pulled from left to right only to shake the hook again. A few more casts later and not even a knock, I guessed it may have cleared the swim so I decided to switch to the other side of the river and fish the margins for a while. I stuck with Bread flake on the drop as i was getting more hits this way, I kept to a size 14 hook knowing there was larger fish around, after my 3rd cast I had a nice hit and Landed my first fish of the afternoon. a lovely rudd of around 1/2lb. Only had one more knock after this and decided to call it a day to get home in time to watch the England game, How i wish i Hadn't. Well I'm going back down tomorrow for a full days fishing. this time i'm going to try the leger and aim for the carp that evaded me today. __________________ Fish List-2010: Bream, Common Carp, Mirror Carp, Ghost/Common hybrid, Roach, Rudd, Tench |
