| Trent session on Friday Looking forward to my first session of the season at Besthorpe. I will be up at the sparrows fart and wont be leaving til dusk. I should imagine there will be the odd person there from the previous night but hopefully I wont have to fight for a peg as this spot is quite out of the way. Im going to target carp and barbel but I will take my feeder rod for the chub and bream also. Think al use 4 0z feeder stuffed with ground bait and other goodies with pellet or boilie on the end. I landed two 20lb plus carp from my intended peg for a friend last year so fingers crossed. I will post pics if I do any good !! __________________ Species 2011.. | Re: Trent session on Friday-report Arrived at the river at around 7am to find I was the only person on that stretch, Bonus!. The tide was low but weather conditions were good so I felt quite confident. Spent the first 15 mins clearing the peg of overgrown grass and weeds as it looks like I was the first angler there of the season. I set up two carp rods one with a running 4 oz feeder the other was a running lead with pva bag both baited with pellets. Within and hour I landed a 5.6lb bream which was nice but not what I was after. At about 12:00 the rod started to jerk then the alarm burst into life with a screaming run. After a good ten minute fight I had landed my first barbel ever, it was a modest 6lb but it fought like a bull. about two hours later the alarm went again with a screamer. I felt a bit more confident this time and landed my second barbel withing minutes. this one was heavier at 6.2lb. I went on to catch another two bream to 6lb ish each. knocked it on the head about 8pm and drove home smiling at catching my first beard. __________________ Species 2011..
