Out this Evening (03.06.2010) Hello all, After Tuesday nights disaster i got back on my bike, if not a little wary at the start, after going over the handle bars with a bagful of tackle on your back you would be the same aswell!Well i made it to the lake all in one piece, already it was a better night than Tuesday. I REALLY wasn't confident of any pike tonight i will admit that, but can you blame me with the sun beating down and an air temperature of about 23 degrees? Didn't think so . Having said that it didn't stop me setting up 2 deadbait rods, one fished to a distant bed of lillies with lamprey, the other float fished to the edge of a reed bed were i usually see the pike chasing the silverfish.Ok so the pike were sorted. Next onto the roach, balled in some groundbait to get them going and set up at around 6ft deep, with 2lb flurocarbon hooklink, size 18 hook and float fished double maggot as bait. ![]() My Roach Swim They started to feed as soon as i cast in, with the first 3 casts producing small roach. Surprisingly the roach just stopped. Really not sure what was wrong. Ahwell it gave me time to go and visit my old 'friend', and i was surprised to see along with her was a new arrival! ![]() ![]() Well that let the fishing recover even though i was away literally a minute cause i heard a few beeps from my bite alarms, needless to say they must have been line bites cause nothing ever materialised. The roach started to pick up again and it was near enough a fish every other cast, nothing big, nothing anywhere near that but it i was still fishing and catching fish so i wasnt worried ![]() ![]() ![]() They would have been perfect size for deadbait but i had really no need for any more so it was all catch and release tonight... which 99.9% of my fishing is i will add! I wasnt the only one fishing the lake tonight, i had 4 or 5 other 'friends'. Looks like the heron chicks had fledged as they were flying about all night, i managed to get a shot of an adult and two younger ones in a true overlooking the lake. Aslong as they stay there and dont come back to out koi i am happy! ![]() I stayed on until dusk and the roach would have kept feeding all night if i had stayed. The pike rods were all quiet as i had expected but atleast i tried. A few other pics from tonight: ![]() ![]() Even though the pike never showed up i still had a great evening. Helped me relax after my exam today. Cheers, Justin __________________ Blackwater Tackle Supplies Keep Ulster's Waters Healthy, Practice Catch and Release!

A bit out of my depth here, with not a trout about . Great photos Justin. Sunrises and sunsets was always a favourite of mine, the colours are amazing, at times look unreal. I like the one of the heron , we have a few resident ones, but they tend to be camera shy. again nice one. Peter![]()

Re: Out this Evening (03.06.2010) Loved the report and pics - Having some nice photo's from a trip makes it all the more worthwhile, particularly if the pike didnt show - with the lovely scenery, wildlife, and sunsets you have photographed, just being there is enough sometimes..
