| lake view fisheries nr crawley 30/31/05/2010 hi all, been a while since my last fishing report, but not really managed to get out properly untill last night. did a tester day session at easter, but ended up blanking with trying different carp rigs, luckilly seting up my float rod saved the day with 21 small roach & 2 small perch, didn't do a report as kept forgetting. i was going to go to my normal haunt (tilgate park's silt lake), but due to flood defence work on the main lake, anglers moved a number of fish from the main lake into silt lake prior to the main lake being closed & drained, silt lake is now over stocked & has been closed while an airator is put in to help sustain the increased stock & looks to be closed untill the work is completed on the main lake (spring 2011). with my 1st choice out of the question, i decided to try lake view fisheries at worth, near crawley, as a local lake, it's somewhere i'd been thinking of trying for a while. a friend & the local tackle shop both said it was fishing really well at the moment. unfortunately, my mate couldn't make it as he's working this weekend, my brother & his kids are in wales for a week, lilman is away too, so went as billy-no-mates lol. i arrived just after pm, found an empty peg that was 1 of the suggested pegs by my mate, then went to see the baliff, after a short chat about the fishing etc, the peg i chose was also 1 he suggested. also, he extended my session untill 9am as i'd arrived just after the start time of the night permit. i unloaded my car & got to the swim & set up. i thought despite the blanking with the rigs at easter, i'd give them another go, with the option of changing if i wasn't having much luck. 1st rod was set up with helicopter rig & pva mesh with 8mm pellets & 10/12mm boilies & 12mm boilie hook bait. i cast it out, settled it on the pod & proceeded to set up my other rod, i'd barely fed the line through the eyes & i had a couple of bleeps on the 1st rod, then i had a positive run, after a few minutes, i had a rather nice 7lb14oz common carp in my net a pb for any species & only my 2nd carp. rebaited & cast out, managed to get the other rod set up, although i went method feeder/12mm boilie as a tried & tested method. i finished setting up my bivvy etc. after about 20 minutes, my 2nd rod went, after a short fight, a 5lb 2oz common slid into my net. rebaited & recast, things went a quieter, apart from what appeared to be the occasional beep, which i suspected as being line bites. after a while, i decided to rebait, & was suprised to see a small skimmer on the feeder, eyes obviously bigger than it's belly as the boilie didn't even fit in it's mouth. i settled down about 11ish & apart from the odd bleep, there was no action, which allowed me to get a few hours sleep. woke up about 3:30 & decided to rebait, had thought i may try a zig rig, but decided to keep with the method feeder & tried getting some more sleep, but just lightly dozed. between 5-6, i had another 2 common of 5lb7oz & 4lb7oz. again i thought about changing from method to zig or controller & floating bait as i could see plenty of surface action, but ended up staying as was, mainly so as not to waste what method mix i had left (enough to last out the session). started packing up about 8am, was really pleased with what i'd caught, especially as i've never really targeted any particular species before & feel more confident to try other rigs etc for carp, although i'll still be a pleasure angler & happy with whatever i catch __________________ www.mobilespanner1.co.uk |

| Re: lake view fisheries nr crawley 30/31/05/2010 thanks guys, was getting a bit frustrated not being out, but with mrs asp giving birth in december the bad weather over winter & starting a new job in march, it's been hard getting out to do anything lol. i've now got to split my spare time even more between fishing, family & rebuilding/preparing my drag car now it's at work __________________ www.mobilespanner1.co.uk |
