A carrot, not a stick Fortune smiled on me and I was able to get away from work a tad early, the rain helped by doing some of my watering for me. Any JP had popped by to borrow a rod, being the gent that I am, I lent him the Avon Queen, a superb rod, for the tench at Crockerton. So far this year JP has not been able to connect with a tinca, the poor fellow had been cursed with bream, so a pedigree rod was required to cure him of this plague. I wound up driving to the venue, with a burning tongue, due to this, our new limited edition hot sauce... ![]() Only 22 bottles in the first batch, maybe another 20 in the second, then thats it, but damn its a hot one. Anyway, as I had been generous enough to lend out the 'Queen, I was in a bit of a pickle, but I had picked up an old glass rod, for a few quid at a collectors market. Its a E Craddocks, bright orange number, having a screw in tip ring, I assume its for ledgering, the action is very soft and I understand that it will make a lovely tench rod, although I also feel that it will make a superb rod for big roach. I set up in no6, JP was in no 5, being cursed with bream, indeed my fiorst fish was a small skimmer. Horrible thing. Ricky lee was next door in no 7. After a short time, and another rain shower, I heard some music comming from JP, his old 'pin singing away, (he did have a few problems with it, the seat was not suitable for a quality peice of cane such as the 'Queen, it kept falling off). Anyway, he was a happy piscator, with this nice tinca. ![]() There was a nasty shower, so I sheltered underneath JP's Brolly, which I loaned to him a few years ago.... Then afew minutes after returning to my swim, I had this lovely tench. ![]() The only downside to this session was my duties as club secretary in having to speak to a lad who was using some bad language. Hopefully they'll mature soon. __________________ Ignore the margins at your peril

Nice one guys. What bait were you using for the Tench? I was hoping for a Tinca at Todber yesterday, but only caught snotty bream & roach. Oh, & one brown goldfish.... __________________ Don't Judge My Path If You Haven't Walked My Journey...

Re: A carrot, not a stick Tinca's fell to small bit of bacon grill, I cut a slice, then break of irregular bits. Has worked well for ages, I'm less confident about using normal shaped cubes. __________________ Ignore the margins at your peril
