| Where to go? Off early doors for a day out but am in a bit of a dilemma. Do I go to The Glade at Sidcup of Galleons Reach, Thamesmead? What say you? |

| Re: Where to go? Though I'd let you all know that I went to Thamesmead and had a pretty good day. Got there just about 5ish and after spending a half an hour trying to tempt various decent size carp to take a floated biscuit, albeit fruitlessly, settled down to a waggler in the margins. Within 10 minute I had two tench, both tipping just over 5lbs. That was all the tench I managed but up until 12 I had had over 50 fish ranging from minnow size to 1lb perch, a solitary roach of 2 1/4lbs and a bagful of bream upto 4 lbs. Things took a turn for the worse when the local council decided to strim the bank behind me. No less than five motor strimmers blasting for about 30 mins killed any hope of carrying on so, after toughing it out for 20 mins, I decided to have a bit of fun on a single maggot. 4lb mainline straight to a 14 hook, a single red maggot and, would you believe, first cast was taken by a carp of probably 8lbs. Lost that after a short but one sided scrap so I thought I would get back to minnow bashing. Only to be taken again by a carp of equal, if not bigger, size. This time I pussied around for nearly 10 mins having seen all but my backing line taken off the reel. Just a i thought I was winning, ping!, off it came. No probs, not what I was after, had a bit of fun so chalk it down to experience. Finished up at 2ish, not having caught again but still satisfied with a good day. |
