| 23.5.10 little session on my local canal up bright and early yesterday so decided to take a trip to my local canal which i had heard was fishing well. armed with a pint of mixed maggots i was fully set up by 6.30, after about 15 mins i was in to my first perch of the day. My second fish was quite lucky, as i messed up my cast and it only landed around 5 metres out (i was fishing the opposite side near some lily pads) but before i could retrieve the line the float was under and i was reeling in a decent roach. I continued to fish this same spot and was having instant takes of roach and perch for about 30 minutes. i then decided to change from 2 maggots per hook to 4, to see if there were any bigger fish about. The plan worked and i caught a nice rudd and a nice perch. towards the end of the session i hooked into something which felt like a monster but after a 30 second fight i lost it, i presume it was a tench as i spotted a few on the walk back to the car. my bag at the end ![]() |
