| Saturday I Arrived At Crockerton At 7.30am To Find Steve Neiman And Ian Gallagher Already At The Lake Side. Steve Had Been There Since 7am Just To Make Sure No Other Pleasure Anglers Turned Up To Fish Before The 8am Draw. Mark Newell Was Next To Arrive Followed By Will Brougham And Stuart Young. 8am Arrived And No Sign Of Steve Bell, So Everyone Else Drew And Steve Would End Up Picking Last When He Eventually Arrived. Everyone Ended Up In The Following Pegs; Steve Bell : Peg 1 Stuart Young : Peg 6 Will Brougham : Peg 7 Steve Neiman : Peg 12 Ian Gallagher : Peg 13 Mark Newell : Peg 15 Mark, Will And Stuart Dropped Some Of There Kit Into There Pegs And Headed Off For A Few Hours And Would Be Back By 12pm For The Start Of The Match. Meanwhile Ian, Steve.N And Steve.B Walked To There Pegs And Started Settig Up There Bivvi's And Then Sorting Out The Rest Of There Kit. I Set Myself Up Round By Peg 12 And 13 As This Is Where I Was Expecting To Find More Fish To Be Caught During The Match. Ian Brought With Him A Bivvi Which He Picked Up For £50, A JRC One Which He Has Never Used. He Was Getting In Abit Of A Muddle So Me And Steve.N Gave Him A Hand To Set That Up. Ian, Mark And Steve.N All Started Off The Match With One Carp Rod Out Plus One Rod With A Surface Controller All Using Pellet, Unfortunatley The Lake At The Moment Is Suffering From Some Horrible White Stuff Falling And No Not Snow This Time. Its The White Flower From The Willow Trees. Steve.B However Found That At The Start If The Match His Swim Was Clear Of The Falling Flower, So Steve.B Started The Match Free Lining Bread, Which Is How He Got The First Fish Of The Match. Ian, Mark And Steve.N All Gave Up On The Surface Fishing As The Flower Was Getting All Tangled On The Line And All In There Spools, Making Life Very Difficult. Steve.N Did Hook Into 2 Fish While Surface Fishing Trout Pellets But Lost Them Both. Ian Had One On Floating Trout Pellet Also But It Broke The Line And Lost Both His Hook And Surface Controller. Steve.B Got The First Fish @ 4lb 4oz Common Carp @ 12.15pm On Floating Crust. Will In Peg 7 Lost A Nice Carp @ 12.25pm Steve.B Landed A Small 3lb 7oz Mirror @ 1.05pm Steve.B Landed A Mirror @ 6lb 14oz @ 1.13pm Will Landed A Common Carp @ 7lb 5oz @ 1.18pm Steve.B Landed A Common Carp @ 13lb 2oz @ 1.25pm ![]() Everything Then Went Quiet After Steve.B's Fish Untill Steve.B Landed Another Mirror Weighting 5lb 10oz @ 2.05pm. Mark Then Had A Screaming Run Which He Nearlly Lost In The Tree To His Left Of Peg 15. He Landed It, Weighting In @ 9lb 2oz @ 2.25pm. ![]() The Next Fish Didnt Come For Another Hour, In Which Steve.B Managed A Beautiful 3lb 7oz Common Carp, Caught On Sucken Bread Crust @ 3.25pm. Ian Decided On A Tacktical Change And Swapped His Method Rig To A Zig Rig With Bread. So That He Had The Bread Just Under The Surface. And I Tell No Lie That Bait Was Out Less Than 30 Seconds, Ian Had Is First Carp, A Beautiful Mirror Carp Weighting In At 4lb 4oz, Caught @ 4.15pm. This Was Ian First Carp Off The Surface, Which He Was Successfully Landed. Mark Was The Next To Hook Into A Carp @ 4.35pm. He Had Been Feeding Bread On The Surface For A While, Without Is Rod Out To Get The Confidence Of The Carp Up. As The Surface Fishing Had Been Difficult. He Ended Up Landing The Fish, It Weighted 7lb 1oz. After Other People Started To Catch Near Or On The Surface, Steve.N Changed One Of His Rods Over To A Zig Rig With A White Chocolate PopUp To Try And Get His First Fish Of The Day. Mark Landed A Nice Mirror Carp Which Its Dorsel Fin Ran Right Down Its Back To Its Tail. It Was Landed At @5pm, Weighing 7lb 11oz ![]() Ian Hooked Into A Fish At 5.05pm And Landed A Mirror Carp With Some Lovely Large Scales. It Weighted 8lb 7oz. ![]() Steve.N Then Swapped His Second Rod Over To A Snowman Rig With Matrix Bollies. Ian Managed Possible The Smallest Common Carp In The Lake At Just 2lb 15oz. Fantastic Condition. Ian Said "As Long As There's Fish In The Swim, I Dont Mind What I Catch. It All Add's Up At The End Of The Day". Which Is A Fantastic Attitude To Have. Especially As Some Of The Attitudes Some Match Anglers Have These Days. Steve.N Changed His Zig Rig Rod Over To A Snowman Rig @ 6.15pm. He Used A Matrix Bollie And A Yellow Factor PopUp From Todber Manor. Steve.N Was Really Struggling, Just Trying To Find Something That Would Work For Him. Mark Then Landed A Small Common Carp Or 4lb 4oz ![]() 6.55pm And A Noise I Hadnt Heard All Day, Steve.N's Bite Alarm Going Off. Finally A Run For Steve.N. The Fish Manages To Find The Snag In The Tree To The Left Of Peg 12. Steve.N Put Alot Of Pressure On The Fish To get It Out Which He Did. A 6lb 12oz Common Carp. ![]() 7.50pm Steve.B Catches A 5lb Mirror Carp. 8.12pm Steve.N Catches A 9lb 12oz Common Carp ![]() 8.55pm Ian Catches A 7lb Common Carp. 9.35pm Mark Catches A Fantastic Looking Common @ 7lb 12oz. 9.58pm Steve.N Gets A Cracking Run And Hooks A Decent Fish Would Of Taken Him Into 3rd Place, Unfortunatly The Fish Came Off In The Tree On The Right Hand Side Of Peg 12. Sunday.... 12.50am Mark Storms Into The Lead With A Stunning 16lb 10oz Common Carp. ![]() Stuart Bags His First Fish Of The Match, Just Before 4am. Weighting 14lb 4oz. This Is Also Stuarts New PB. Mark Lands A 4lb 5oz Common @ 4.50am ![]() 7am Will Lands A Mirror Carp Of 3lb 8oz. This Carp Deffinalty Had Some Koi Mixed In With It. Steve.B Shouts Over To Say Hes In. This Is The First Fish He Had Hooked Into In Nearlly 12hrs. It Weighted In At 8lb 4oz. The Night Didnt Prove To Be As Productive As It Can Be At Crockerton. Steve.N Kept Getting Woken Up By Linners. But No Proper Takes. Ian Missed A Cracking Run In The Night, He Didnt Even Wake Up To Try And Hit It. Mind You He Did Have Nearlly 3ltrs Of Cider Before He Went To Bed. Steve.N Did Try To Wake Ian Up While Is Line Was Screaming Away, But Nothing Could Wake Him. 8.40am Mark Lands A 5lb 8oz Common Carp In The Margins, Off The Tree To His Left Of Peg 15. Caught On Floating Bread Crust. 9.50am Mark Lands A 10lb 4oz Common Carp. 10.42am Steve.B Catches A 5lb 1oz Common Carp. ![]() 11.16am Steve.N Had A Run From His Right Hand Rod. It Started To Take Line, He Lifted Into It And Nothing. "Gutted For Him, He Had A Hard Time Over The Night". View Of The Lake From Steve.N Swim With The Lake Cover On White Flower Which Caused So Many Problems. ![]() Steve.B In Peg 1. ![]() Stuart And Will In Pegs 6 And 7. ![]() Steve.N In Peg 12. ![]() Ian In Peg 13. ![]() Mark In Peg 15. ![]() End Weights: First Place: Mark : 72lb 9oz Second Place: Steve.B : 51lb 1oz Third Place: Ian : 22lb 10oz Forth Place: Steve.N : 16lb 8oz Fith Place: Stuart : 14lb 4oz Sixth Place: Will : 10lb 13oz Mark Now Hold The Biggest Fish Of The Qualifers At 16lb 10oz Common Carp. Also Stuart Now Has A New PB @ 14lb 4oz, Well Done Mate ![]() The Total Weight Caught Overall Was 187lb 13oz Simon N |

| Re: May's 24hr Carp Qualifier At Crockerton Plenty Of Carp Moving About Saturday Afternoon On The Top, The Shallows Were Black With Them, Its Just People Couldnt Get To Them Because Of The Flower Off The Willow Tree's. Give It A Couple Of Weeks To Disappear And It Will Fish Fantastic. |
