Cold and slow 48hours @ Longleat top lake

Got to lonleat at 5:30pm Friday 7th may with only 4 other anglers on the lake all 4 double up both sides of the dam wall, So i set up half way down the lake on the road side.


my 1st 24hours didn't produce no fish what so ever, And no one had caught no fish, my dad and brother turned up at 7am saturday 8th, Ben set up at the other end of the lake, And my dad set up 3 pegs down from me, With in 2 hours my dad was in to the 1st fish and only fish and new P.B for him a nice 24Lb Ghost carp , a few hours after ben landed a 18lb Mirror i think it was,


Now back to me i didn't have my first run till 29 hours after being there at 10:30pm when rod 2 was of i struck into what felt like a big fish after a good scrap for about 12mins and running through both my other lines he was ready for the net look like a big Mirror and going to be close with my P.B just about to scoop with the net when i must of knocked my back wind switch and loads of line came of in a knot after sorting it the fish had come of
No more action till 05:53am when rod 1 was of after a good fight i landed my first fish a wired shape 20LB mirror pic below



No more action till 12:28am when rod 1 was of after a good 8-9min fight i landed my second fish a nice looking 18 1/2 lb mirror pic below





No more action till 03:32pm when rod 3 was of after a good 10min scrap i landed my 3rd fish in the shape of another 20LB mirror pic below





Not long after i re-baited and casted out rod 3 was of again after a 11min battle and picking my second line up i landed my 4th and final fish at 04:28pm a nice 20lb mirror sorry no pics as phone died.




i could still see fish topping and fizzing in my swim but at 04:30pm some one set up in the peg opposite me, seeing i was the only one catching, He got his marker rod out and spent 1 hours casting with in meters of my swim, Then out came the spod rod and another 1 hour of spodding, what i think killed my swim as no more fish was topping of fizzing so i gave up and packed up at 6pm

Thats the problem with lakes like Longleat, people don't respect other peoples areas, i bet he was over half way. glad you caught, some cracking carp there weldone :-). do you know how Ben did at Crockerton?

I was fishing about 1meter from the center of the lake he started casting right slap bang in the center, if he took 5mins to watch the water you could see a few topping and loads of fizzing there.
The thing was there was a hole 7 acres of space to choose from as at that time there was only 5 other anglers fish the hole lake

I Think he is still there steve my dad went over @ 1:30pm to fish till the end of the day with him last i heard he had 8 carp to 13lb some skimmers and 1/2lb eel

Good fishing mate well done used to fish longleat myself but like Steve says thats why I got fed up with carping in the end cos of people like he mentions. Get more frustrated with silly anglers than the actual fish your trying to catch & thats no mean feat with carp.
