An hour at Crockerton

I had an appointment at the the health centre in Warminster after work,and as the weather has been quite nice I popped a rod in the car. The idea to catch an early season tench.
I set up in no 15, a favourite swim and having deep water of the tips of some elders I felt pretty confident.
Second put in, with my usual crockerton rig, a fixed, by a rubber quill, and a sliding weight, with alump of bacon grill on the hook was the line of attack. The float dipped a tad, then slid away, sadly I ahd a bream on the end, which despite being about 2 1/2 lb, did not bother to put in any effort at all.
I was able to lift it out, and unhook it without getting my nice landing net polluted. As the swims have a fesh serving of scalpings, I did not bother to set up a pic on the bank, just snapped it on the mobile as I had it by the bank, hopefully it wil be accepted for points, although I fear I will be snagged to another of these time wasters again this year.

As I was returning it, an angler who was paking up walked past, telling me his mate had been in no 15, earlier that dqay, and had put in about 1lb of groundbait, and two big tins of sweetcorn, in my experience of crockerton lake, that amount of food can be the kiss of death, it does not respond well to heavy feeding, esp when the water is cool, as it is now.
So I packed up, and went home.

I Went Over Tuesday Aswell Matt, Put Up The New Notices In The Notice Board Then Did A Few Hours In Peg 3, Was Looking For A Tench But Like You Only Pulled Out Several Bream And One Roach. Everyone At The Moment Seems To Be Catching Them Whatever Tactic They Use.
