| 3 days at crockerton got to Crockerton Saturday morning just after 9pm the lake had a few people fishing after speaking to other members decided to fish peg 14 so set up two rods got them out on 2 spots near the island 1 in 5ft of water very close to the island on gravel and the left rod about 15ft of the island in ft of water fired out about 20 boileies over the area. then set up my bivvy and the rest of my kit. the weather was good and better than my last session there so was hopping for a better session. i also wanted to try out the peg and tactics before the carp match at the end of the month. I tryed different boilies sizes/shapes and also meat as normally cant fail to catch something on meat. fished till 4pm with no fish after speaking to my brother in peg 16 he was having some luck on the pole decided to bring my left hand rod in and fish the float next to a tree thats in the water had very good success form this spot in the summer so fired out some small bits of meat then flicked out the float its about 6ft deep and fed afew pieces of meat every 10-15mins fished the method till just after 6pm with no luck so reeled in and spoke to the other members to see ho they got on they only caught the odd bream. went back round and decided to put out my left rod on the spot with a boilie for a few hours as most of my fish recently have come out late evening till early morning. it was just after 7pm so decided to switch to meat on both rods still no luck. so at 9.30pm i put both rods out by the island again on a boilie that i normally catch on fired out a few more boiles. and got into bed ready for the night. the time went on with no signs of fish till just after 12am when i kept having a few bleeps was asleep by 2am ish. at 6.50am my left hand alarm went of jumped out of bed grabbed the rod fish on didnt feel to big and kept deep so had an idea what i thought it was grabbed the net and netted a nice 3lb tench. ![]() rebaited the rod and cast out on the same spot. at 9am members turned up to do a work party so packed up my gear and put it into my bivvy just incase they needed to get to my swim. and went off to give a hand. i helped out at re filling swim 1 with gravel then 5 of us went over to 2 small bridges that separate the lake into two 3 of us put on some waders to get into the water to remove the gates to stop fish swimming between the 2 pats of the lake. we got them out repaired any holes and re fitted them. whilst still in my waders thought i would go round the margins collecting line floats ect out of the trees bushes and take the advantage to check out the lake bed. then decided to do the same round the island after speaking to a few other members was told its shallow enough to wade across from peg 11 me and my brother went over to the island i took my landing net pole to check the depth and bottom also to hook line out of the island. gave me the chance to check out 1 of the spots i was fishing on alot of work was done and more members turned up than i was expecting (pics in post you tell em steve). after every one had finished i got back to fishing wasnt expecting to catch and was thinking of moving pegs but decided to stay. left rod to the margin tree snag and right rod to the island both with boilies. fired in a few boilies and bags of pellets in every hour or so. also threw in some dog mixers in the snag as i have caught off the top in the summer from the snag it was a worm day so thought i would see if the would come up and thy didnt so fired some into the middle of the lake and to the island still no signs of carp. my brother decided to call it aday and left me to it at around 6pm ish. at 8.20pm my right had rod went off lifted into the fish again it felt like the first one so guessed i hooked another tench sliped it into the net and liffed it out onto the unhooking mat to find 3 fish in my net. ![]() whilst landing the 3lb tench i scooped up to perch lol. cast the rod back out to the island spot fired out some more boileies and small bags of pellets and left it hoping for some more fish overnight made some food a cup of tee then got into bed. just after 10pm could hear some noises behind my bivvy and saw 2 big shadows didnt have a clue what it was thought i might of been someone messing about so got my head torch ready trainers on and unziped my bivvy quietly with my light off ready to switch thought i could try and make them jump lol managed to get out my bivvy ready and they was still behind my bivvy so rushed round with my light to find to dear legging it off away form me i thought it was very funny lol. got back into bed and went to sleep was up about 5am ish made some breakfast rebaited each of my rods and fired out some more bait and got back into bed for a while and waited till 7am for my dad to arrive. just after 7am i heard the guard geese going off on one so knew someone was about. next thing i knew my left had alarm was going off so looked through my window to see my dad tugging the line then he did it a few times expecting me to be still asleep and come rushing out then he did my right hand 1 i just sat there and watched him lol. had a chat with my dad and he decided to fish peg 2. after a while 3 other members turned up so about 12 ish reeled in and went round to see how my dad was doing and grab some more water. by that time my dad had manage to catch a 1lb ish roach on an 18mm boilie. i went over to and spoke to the other members the guy opposite me behind the island was caching 2-3lb bream on a ground bait feeder. went back round re cast my right had rod into 14ft of water towards the middle of the lake with a snowman rig and my right rod to the island at 1.25pm i had a run from my right had rod this time it was a better take lifted into it and it was a carp after a hard fight got it in front of me picked up my net to find it snagged on the peg after 5mins managed to free the net and land the fish a nice 12lb common. recast my rod to the island again baited up hopeing the carp have come on the feed. stared to pack up my bivvy ect slowly ended the session at 7pm with no more fish. |
