| Day One... After Putting Off Our Holiday For A Few Days So We Could Attend Our Clubs AGM, We Set Off For Burnham Friday Morning At 10am Unfortunatly The Rain Had Already Started, Making A Short Stop At Steve Tackle In Warminster For Some Corn And Worms. After A Brief Char With Steve Off We Went, 1 Hour 20 Mins Later We Arrived In Burnham, Surprisinly Not Getting Lost On The Way. We Found The Camp And Checked In Unloaded. By Now The Rain Had Got Alot Heavier. We Went And Brought Our Tickets For The Weekend - £16 For 3 Days. ![]() View From The Caravan Once We Purchased Our Tickets We Decided To Go Spinning And Lure Fishing As We Didnt Fancy Getting Soaked Float Fishing On The First day. I Had One Take On A Deep Diving Ratling Lure, But The Hook Pulled Before I Managed To Get A Look At It. Day Two... Woke Up Too One Of The Most Miserable Days Ever. Wind Blowing A Gale, Rain Hammering Down. Weather Report Said Patchy Rain, So We Stayed In Watching For The Weather To Break. We Set Up Our Rods Inside, I Was Using My 13ft Float Rod, 4lb 0.18mm Main Line, 2.9lb 0.14mm Diamater Drennan Series 7 Hook Lengh, Drennan Size 14 Match Hook With Maggots As Bait. Once The Rain Stopped We Got Out And Baited The Swim Right Out Side The Caravan Door. We Used Chilli Hemp, 4mm Pellets And Maggots To Get Some Bait Down On The Deck. It Was Hard Going With The Wind Still Blowing A Gale. Im Sure I Was Getting Bites But Unable To See Them Because Of The Strengh Of The Wind. All I Managed All Day Was A Small Rudd. ![]() Thankfully No Blank. Day Three... Woke Up Expecting Rain As It Hadnt Stopped All Night, But To My Surprise Sun Shinning, Warm And No Wind. So Decided To Miss Breakfast And Get On The Bank. On The Bank By 7am, Same Tactics As The Day Before, Fishing Hard On The Bottom With Double Maggot. Within 10 Minuites First Bite. A Dull Fight, I Got It Head Up And Couldnt Beleave It A Bream And i Knew Straight Away A New PB For Me. The Fish Tipped The Scales At 3 1/4lb. Fantastic i Was Happy With That. ![]() The The Wind Picked Up, And Just Under An Hour Later The Float Went Again. This Felt Diffrent, Felt A Few Kicks, I Was Sure It Was A Small Carp To Start With. Then It Came To The Surface And It Was A Bream Again. It Looked Bigger Than The First One, And It Was. Weighted In At 4 1/2lb. PB Broke With In An Hour. ![]() A While Later Another Bream. Weighted 2 3/4lb ![]() Packed Up After That Fish And Went For Lunch At The Pub. After Lunch We Got Back On The Bank And Tried Again, Was Hoping For a Tench. But Not To Be Just One For Bream This Time 3 3/4lb. ![]() ![]() All In All A Good Weekend, PB Broke Twice, Very Happy With That. Was Hoping For A Pike But Will Have To Wait Till June Now. Also Wanted A Tench But According The The Bailiff He Said No One Had Caught One All Weekend So I Didnt Feel To Bad After Hearing That. Will Be Off To Crockerton ASAP To Try For One There. |
