carp session with a nice couple of bonuses

I arrived at my local at about 3pm and the lake was fairly quite with only the bailiff and another angler fishing. Fortunately my favourite winter swim was free and after seeing no signs of fish elsewhere i decided to fish there along with my fishing buddy and brother in law gav. The left hand rod was out onto a snaggy tree to the far margin and was fished with a white pop up on a pop up rig. The second rod was positioned under a small tree down to my left and this was fished on a coated braided bottom bait rig with a size 6 longshank hook with shrink tube to create an aggresive angle. The hair was also trapped using some silicon and this was fished with a single bottom bait. Two crumbled boilies were put into a pva mesh bag and nicked on then cast first time under the tree! result! an hour or so passed and suddenly the all spice left hand rod pulled round signalling i was into a fish. It put up a spirited fight but soon was mine and sulking in the bottom of the net. The scales read 11lb exactly and i was chuffed with a capture as i struggled last week and blanked. the rod was re positioned and at 6.30pm the left hander was off again this time resulting in a 6 - 7lber.

I also fished with some worms on the waggler and managed to catch a few really nice pb perch!

The night was uneventful and only a slimy bream graced the net for the rest of the session which was from the other rod. this was my first session with all spice red from the kernow bait co and im very impressed with the smell, quality and results of the bait. I told the bailiff about my captures at the end of the session and he said the carp are the young from previous spawnings! thanks for reading and hopefully will be posting something bigger and better soon as the lake definitely holds some crackers! cheers!
