Re: slipper bridge gilberdyke ( report)

Well the day didn’t start too bad bit windy bit cold but no frost lake not frozen
as it was the day before . Dropped the float in about 10 ish single red maggot size 20 hook 3lb bottom 4lb main it was the lightest rig I had and it was perfect depth first time as I plumbed margins and up to 14..5 meters across the peg and it was a dead level peg so I fed three lines one at 14.5 meters dead ahead of myself one at 12 meters to my left and another about 8 meters to my right and fed the margins to my right as the chub are pretty prolific in there first put out I was adjusting my spray bar when the float went down and I had my first roach bait sat about 1 inch on bottom….oooh at that point I burst into my own version of the black eyed peas “ Iv’e got a feeling that today’s gonna be a good day, today’s gonna be a good good day”mmmm it was another half hour and the chubb came on but not in my peg in my hubbys peg next to me, my next fish was a nice bream followed by another then it went quiet again so I fished the margins and started to catch small roach and chubb pellet was a no they wasn’t interested at all but red maggot and fluro pinkis achieved the best results back out at 8 meters I decided to shallow off to about 4 incheds off the bottom and smaller skimmers started to show we thought that the pond floor might be quite silty or mulmy and the fish were loosing the maggots out of view this paid off as a fish a throw started to come out. I had to pack up at 2 to get back to collect the kids from school mmm I always draw the short straw there whilst hubby and friend stayed until 6 they said the fish really came on after I left yerr right Andy hooked into a large carp which he had no chance of landing as it flew off around the corner of his peg and snapped him we have decided to fish the match tomorrow on the same pond 8.30 am draw so ill let you all know how we go. Pictures are only a small segment of the pond around our three pegs and a nice sunset on the way home sorry about the quality they were on my phone I must remember my proper camera tomorrow

Re: slipper bridge gilberdyke

Well done to you both. I went out myself no maggots allowed im afraid but i did have top quality blackheads, didnt matter blankedy blank im afraid, river was very low, sun beaming down and no movement on the water. Bit early for me we need rain, please let it rain please and a nice gentle breeze. I was going for a big trout or and a springer salmon, i could of gone up river and caught trout at half a pound on the fly 2 goldhead hares ears 2 foot apart but i was down at the bottom. Our river is 12 miles long jools so abit spoilt to say the least. Anyway wont be long till april. Its a river that needs to be right to fish it, beatiful river. Tight lines, god i dont half ramble.

Its called the big agivey in northern ireland it comes of the bann. If you go to google and type in/Agivey anglers, you can see her when she is full flow and some pics of superb catches.
