| Lower lake Higher Farm & a mouse...... The plan for Bananna Steve & I had been to fish the river Avon before the rivers season came to a close. However with all the rain we've had, the Avon was over it's banks in most places & looking like chocolate. So a decision was made to fish the lower lake at Higher farm near Bruton. Arrived there about 9ish. Set up our brollies as the clouds were looking a tad threatening . Steve opted to fish the waggler ![]() & I decided to fish the pole. I opened my tackle box to get my rigs out, only to discover that a family of mice had been having a party in there (Memo to self, check tackle box the evening before future trips & buy some mouse traps for the shed) I'd had about a tenners worth of Dynamite Halibut groundbait stored in there & this was now spread around every orifice of my box, liberally mixed with mouldy mouse droppings. It then took me about an hour to completely empty & clean it out....Eventually got set up, fed a few micro pellets, & almost immediately started catching a gudgeon a chuck. ![]() ![]() As the day progressed, a few other species started to show including some hard fighting carp, skimmer Bream, Rudd & Tiny Perch. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() We had been hoping for some of the Golden Orfe & Golden Tench the lake contains, but sadly this was not to be. Had a visit from Forum member JP who came to see what we were catching, and fished through until about 4.30pm when we decided it was getting too cold. Both of us had caught about 20lb of mixed fish, i'd managed to get another 10 species hunt points & we'd had a really enjoyable day. Even the rain had held off. Steves net of fish ![]() Then it was off to a nice little pub in Bruton where we met up with JP & Fullcreel for a couple of pints of Real ale beside a roaring log fire..... __________________ Don't Judge My Path If You Haven't Walked My Journey... |
