| Chew 21/02/2010 Well it was time for my first trip of the year to Chew in search of that elusive 30lb’r and more importantly the 1.5 points any pike would bring me. Arrived at chew just before first light decided to fish an area known as walley bank just along from the dam wall, this area has produced some cracking pike recently. Fished my normal tactics for chew 2 rods straight ledger 1 with makkies cast out getting a bit more distance with the new rod the second rod fished at distance with herring or sardine delivered with the bait boat and some ground bait round the weight like a method feeder. Things were very slow and the weather was not great with showers. Not so much as a touch for the first few hours but then a beep on the makkie rod followed by the drop off indicator falling alarm now sounding and line peeling of the spool which i struck into straight away nice bend in the rod fish on wasn’t long before the fish was at the net. My Lad did the honours with the net only a small fish but its still 1.5 points. Things then went quiet again but at least the sun was shining now. Had a second take on the distance rod which resulted in a dropped run. It wasn’t until i was sorting out the kit to go home that i had a third run which resulted in my second fish again not huge but still a fish on the bank.Sam did the honours with the net and the camera again not bad for five. This was the last of the action before heading home. My next trip to chew is not until Nov got a boat booked. Still another 1.5 points for the hunt. |

| Re: Chew 21/02/2010 it is a big place and can be a daunting task the thing i like is that anyone can get that fish of a lifetime you dont have to be one of the pros i have fished there quite a few times now and think i have blanked once but as yet have found the bigger fish a bit elusive. Using the baitboat has put a few fish on the bank Will have to see what Dave & I can find in Nov |
