| Lazy Sunday afternoon It was hightime I took the glorious Gudgeon out for a spin, other than trips for food, and so JP and I agreed to meet on the Banks of ther Nadder at Tisbury, a popular place with many members of thsi forum. JP arrived befoer me, and was in the swim just downstream of the bridge. I had spoken to Steve the night before about some of the swims we had not fished before, and as we are guests on another clubs water. We made our tackle safe and went for an exploration, and after a short walk, finding the coreect path discovered a nice looking pitch about 80 yds downstream, but hidden from view by the bend in the river. Very quickly we made friends with a pair of cucks who announced that they wuold keep others away if we gave them a some maggots, and they kept their word on the deal too. We both set up quivertips, (I ought to point out that JP had had a small chub on worms, mine, as I arrived). Joining the 'tips were a pair of nice hand made stick floats, the water was a bit deeper than the bridge swim. First trot down I had a bite, which I hooked for a moment, and then it slipped the hook, my third trot produced a beautiful perch about 8oz, maybe 10oz. I did not photogragh as the hook took a bit of removing. A few minutes later JP had a nice bite, and as he was playing the fish, I also had a bite, my fish turned out to be a lovely brown trout, with some of the most vivd markings I have seen, almost bright enough to rival the fish in the Nunney Brook, or the Mells Stream. JP's fish turned out to be a fine grayling, a fish he seems to have a special relationship with. Here's his Grayling ![]() Our friendly guard ducks. ![]() As the sun began to sink lower in the sky, the orange light tips of our floats look wonderfully serene as they weaved their way down the river, sadly they stayed a bit too bouyant for our liking. With bouyancy a problem we moved up to the bridge swim, I still had ideas about puting a grayling on the bank, but settled for a nice chub, which I was returning just as JP arrived. He set up a few yards downstrea, from me and as the light faded, his float dived under and this spritely chub put in an appreance, an ounce or two larger than the one I had a moment before, all in al I have no complaints, maybe I'll give lords walka bash next weekend, get some points for Team B.A.W.D. JP's chub. ![]() __________________ Ignore the margins at your peril |
