| Smallmouth lunkers The last couple days have been great on the lake. While jigging for yellow perch to have a fish fry for lunch WHAMO!!! I discovered that there are monster smallmouth in the lake and they live down there with the perch and whitefish. And they inhale my little white jigs! I have been fishing deep. About 45-60 feet of water. I have a twelve foot rowboat. I dont put an anchor down I drift real slow and quiet jigging tiny 3inch twitches. Keeping it snug on the bottom. Lift, lift, let it rest .Lift, lift lift, let it rest,. I have made all my fishing discoveries on this lake oldschool. No electronics,no motor. Its a summer recreation lake so latley besides an ocasional kyak I have it all to myself. I mean placid and empty of fishing pressure. It wont last forever so Im taking advantage of the great weather and rod bending smallies. There is Kokanee in the lake I caught one the other day. Im going after smallies for a couple more days then I plan to target the Kokanee. Im going to troll a 2 oz bananna weight with a small dodger and a gruun wedding ring tipped with green power corn. It is the rig that put em in the boat in lake chelan. I will post on the Kokanee when I find em. Good fishing yall! |
