Summers on its way

Spent the morning with my son at one of our club waters in search of points for the hunt and also to wet a line this year . Crockerton was the choice picked up benlee on the way, got to the lake just after 7am by the time we had got our kit out and had a look at the lake steve had arrived. My son and i set up in peg 6 steve was on 3 and ben on the opposite bank. Was into small perch straight away on the pole at about 8m not fished the pole for a long time so was missing a lot of fish don’t think the oversized elastic helped. Got my son set up with a cage feeder to which he caught a few small perch. Now with a good routine going feeding half dozen maggots each put in with the odd tiny ball of crumb the perch got slightly bigger and the roach started feeding.
By now i found myself keeping an eye on the feeder rod as my boy was playing his DS game, bang the tip pulled round and a good bend in the rod nice fish on very slow plodding fight took it steady as i was fishing light 1.1 bottom eventually the fish broke the surface and to my surprise it was a little touch of summer in the depths of winter and a point i didn’t expect until one of those sunny evenings in August.

Decided to pack up and head home at 12ish just after we watched steve land a nice double fig mirror and help with the photography duties. Many thanks to steve for the pics as the batteries were dead on my camera. A very enjoyable day and mission accomplished 4.5 points for the hunt.
